日本語の「注意する」には「危険を知らせる」「忠告する」「注目する」「気を付ける」という意味があります。したがって「注意する」を英語で表現するには、これらを適切に使い分ける必要があります。
1．危険を知らせる
The meteological agency warned people that the strong typhoon was almost there.
気象庁は人々に台風がすぐそこまで来ていることを警告しました。
The local people alarted us to a lot of poisnous snakes.
地元民は数多くの毒蛇に注意するよう私たちに呼びかけました。
He warnrd us not t get close to that abandoned mansion.
彼は私たちにあの廃屋には近づくなと警告した。
He gave a warning before the accident.
彼は事故発生前、警告を出した。
His docter alarted him to the dager of drinking too much energy drink.
医者は彼にエナジードリンクの飲みすぎの危険性を警告した。
2．忠告する
The UFJ bank cautioned me against using my birthday as a PIN number.
UFJ銀行は、誕生日を暗証番号として使わないように私に警告しました。
I advised him not to give food for wild cats.
私は野良猫に食べ物を上げないように注意した。
My boss told me to call the customer as soonas possible.
上司はできるだけすぐその顧客に電話するよう私に注意しました。
I gave my son a warning not to follow these friends.
息子にこれらの友人達について行くなと警告した。
3．注意する・注目する
Attention, please.
ご注目ください。
You should pay attention to your teacher and learn all you can.
先生（の言うこと）をよく聞いて、学べることをすべて学ぶべきです。
Please keep an eye on the baby.
赤ちゃんをしっかり見ていてください。
You should more focus on this evidense.
この証拠にもっと注目するべきだ。
4．気をつける
You should be aware of the dog when you visit him.
彼の家を訪れるときは犬に注意した方がいいですよ。
Be aware of running cars.
走っている車に注意。（看板などの表現）
You should be alert to wild bears.
野生のクマには注意したほうがいい。
I'll take care not to catch a cold.
風邪をひかないように気をつけます。
Take care not eat too much.
食べ過ぎないように気を付けてね。
Be careful not to drink too much.
飲みすぎないように注意してね。
