句動詞（phrasal verb )は take care (世話をする）、put off (延期する）など「基本動詞＋α」です。軽い響きがして会話中で頻繁に用いられます。対照的に書き言葉で用いられる動詞をビッグワードと言います。investigate(調べる）、ascertain(突き止める）などですね。これらはそれぞれ look into や find out といった句動詞で言い表すことができます。
今回は hand と hold を使った句動詞を例文でチェックしていきます。
