Japanese government announced the name of new era "Reiwa" today. The new name was taken from Manyo-shu, the oldest existing anthology of Japanese poetry. The new era names has been set only when one emperor has died and his successor has taken the throne. It's the first time that the new era name was announced while the current emperor lives.
日本政府は今日、新しい元号「令和」を発表しました。令和は現存する日本最古の詩集である万葉集からとられました。令和は天皇が崩御され、新しい天皇がその地位を引き継ぐ時にしか定められてきませんでした。現天皇の存命中に新しい元号が発表されるのは初めてのことです。
